More than $28,000 worth of prizes are up for grabs in the eighth annual Amanda Todd Legacy online auction.

The fundraiser for the Port Coquitlam-based society that helps victims of extortion and cyberbullying is open at 8 a.m. on Tuesday, Oct. 1 until Oct. 14, 2024, via 32auctions.com.

The auction coincides with the anniversary of Todd's death on Oct. 10, 2012, as well as the United Nation's World Mental Health Day on Oct. 10.

This year’s goal is $15,000 for the nonprofit run by Carol Todd, a School District 43 educator whose daughter, Amanda, died by suicide at 15 after years of being harassed online.

Last year, the auction raised $27,000, which allowed the organization to start a $25,000 endowment fund for Capilano University undergraduates in the music therapy program.

For the 2024 round, proceeds will go to the new The Foundry in the Tri-Cities and for children/families counselling, Carol Todd told the Tri-City News today, Sept. 26.

Among the auction items donated by businesses are jewelry, art, meals, theatre events and sports games.
