More buses are hitting the pavement across the Tri-Cities starting Labour Day Monday, Sept. 2.

TransLink is set to implement its fall services on nearly 50 routes in Metro Vancouver to meet the seasonal demand, such as students return to school and other riders that require transit this time of year.

While some routes are seeing increased service, TransLink said in a news release that the changes do not address all needs stemming from rapid ridership growth and increased demand that is being seen across Metro Vancouver.

Also, included in the update are changes to the regional transit authority's routes to three local high schools.

Riverside Secondary students that rely on the 861 to get to school will now board the 170 Port Coquitlam Station/Port Coquitlam South bus (see map below).

Terry Fox Secondary students will have two options with the dissolving of the 863 route: the 173 Cedar or the 174 Coquitlam Central Station buses, both of which have been extended to connect to Port Coquitlam Station (see map below).
