Environment Canada has issued a special weather statement for the Tri-Cities as a low-pressure system bringing powerful winds tracks towards the south coast of British Columbia.
Strong southwesterly winds of up to 70 km/h are predicted and they could hit Metro Vancouver as early as Friday afternoon and last into Saturday morning, noted the department's weather agency.
Despite the winds, the Tri-Cities can expect sunny skies throughout the weekend and into Monday, according to The Weather Network. Temperatures are predicted to hover between 8 C and –1 C.
By Tuesday, Jan. 11, mainly sunny skies are predicted to cloud over, setting the stage for a mix of snow and rain showers into next Thursday.
