Summer market

Get some seasonable fruits and vegetables — and soak up the entertainment — at the Port Moody Summer Farmers Market, happening from 3 to 7 p.m. in the parking lot next to the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd.).

New art

Tour the art galleries at Leigh Square (200-2253 Leigh Sq., Port Coquitlam) to see the new exhibits: Energy and Vibration by Tamana S.H. Djuya is up in the Michael Wright Art Gallery in the Gathering Place while Beautiful Trepidation by Maan Kaur is hung in the Outlet Gallery. The opening receptions for both shows is on June 27 from 6 to 8 p.m. in the Michael Wright Art Gallery.

Be a Mountie

Find out what it takes to be a member of the Royal Canadian Mounted Police at a recruitment fair on from 7 to 10 p.m. in Room 2 at the Poirier Sport and Leisure Complex (633 Poirier St., Coquitlam). The career information session will guide potential candidates through the application process and police academy training. Coquitlam RCMP and BC RCMP members will be on hand to answer questions.

Bears are out

Learn about bears in Port Coquitlam and how to keep them out of your garbage bins at a free information session from 7 to 9 p.m. at the Port Coquitlam Community Centre (2150 Wilson Ave.), in the JB Young Room.
