Repair Café

Take your broken household items to the Repair Café, where volunteers at the Port Coquitlam Public Works Yard will fix them for free (donations are accepted). The monthly event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. at 1737 Broadway St.

Supermarket Opens

Step into the first Meiga Supermarket, the new Asian grocer located at 221 Ioco Rd. in Port Moody. Georgia Main Food Group will open the new store with a lion dance at 10:30 a.m. to greet customers and the first 188 shoppers through the doors will get a $20 Megia gift card. Meiga will be open seven days a week from 9 a.m. to 9 p.m.

Writers’ Corner

Scribes can hear Mark David Smith, an author and English teacher in School District 43, talk about writing at the Terry Fox Library in Port Coquitlam (2150 Wilson Ave.). Titled Funny You Should Say: Humour Techniques for Children’s Writers, the workshop is from 1:30 to 4 p.m. Smith has penned five kids’ books, including The Weird Sisters series, of which the first work was nominated for a Cybils Award and the Joan Betty Stuchner Award for funniest Canadian children's book. His free talk is in-person or via Zoom (email [email protected] for a link).

Panthers Home Game

Cheer on the Port Moody Panthers as they battle the Delta Ice Hawks on home ice. The 7:45 p.m. game is at the Port Moody Recreation Complex (300 Ioco Rd.).

Freaky Friday

Disney’s Freaky Friday: The Musical is performed by the musical theatre students at Riverside Secondary in Port Coquitlam (2215 Reeve St.) at 3 p.m. and 7 p.m. Cavell Parsons and Madison Overbye are double cast as Ellie while Emma Schultz and Scarlett Stratton are double cast as Katherine. Tickets are $13 online or $15 (cash) at the door.

That’s Mental!

Mentalist and magician Jeff Newman brings his act to the Evergreen Cultural Centre in Coquitlam (1205 Pinetree Way) for a performance at 7:30 p.m. in the Studio Theatre. Tickets are $37/$34/$16.

Liquored Up Tour

Country music superstars Aaron Pritchett, Cory Marks and Matt Lang rev it up at The Show Theatre at the Great Canadian Casino Vancouver (2080 United Blvd., Coquitlam) for a 19+ concert at 7:30 p.m. Tickets are via Ticketmaster.ca.

Salsa Moves

Dance to the Latin Beats with Alberto Gonzalez and Teresa Szefler of the Salsa Dance Zone as they host their party at the Royal Canadian Legion in Port Coquitlam (2675 Shaughnessy St.). A dance lesson for beginners is at 8 p.m. while the dance floor opens at 9 p.m. The 19+ event runs until midnight. Admission is $15.
