A slide of fewer COVID-19 infections found in the Tri-City region week after week has come to a stop at 15 weeks.
And the new number matches that feat.
The BC Centre for Disease Control's (BCCDC) latest Geographic Distribution of COVID-19 by Local Health Area of Case Residence shows 15 cases were detected across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra between July 11 and 17, 2021.
This is an increase of four compared to 11 found in the previous count, July 4 to 10.
The new data marks the first time since mid-April the Tri-Cities saw any kind of increase in lab-confirmed infections — the number went from 381 to 514 between April 4 and 10, and has decreased in large or small quantities since.
As of this publication, Fraser Health has recorded 86,236 lab-confirmed COVID-19 cases since the pandemic was declared in March 2020, which has included 924 deaths linked to the virus.
Currently, there are 219 active infections across the authority, four people in critical care among 17 hospitalizations, and 85,086 recoveries.
The B.C. government said that 80.2% of the province's eligible population has been vaccinated with at least one dose, so that means that it believes the province has approximately 4,635,822 residents who are at least 12 years old.
It added that 2,636,377 British Columbians have received needed second doses, amounting to nearly 57% of the eligible population, according to the government.
SURVEILLANCE DATA
For a second consecutive week, the Tri-Cities modestly increased its vaccination rates in holding a collective average of 83%.
Four of the five sub-regions have a 1% positivity rate with southeast Coquitlam being the only quadrant posting 0% in the latest surveillance report collected and released by the BCCDC for July 13 to 19.
The regional breakdown is as follows, noting that case rates are new infections per 100,000 people by local health area and community health service area:

STILL NEED A FIRST VACCINE DOSE?
Coquitlam's two COVID-19 vaccine clinics are accepting walk-ins for eligible residents 12 years and older who haven't received their first jab.
The locations are as follows:
- Coquitlam Central Station Park and Ride overflow lot (2900 Barnet Hwy.)
- 10 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
- Entrance off Mariner Way — east side of Rona. Proceed down the ramp and turn right
- The address will direct you to the main lot on the left but COVID-19 Services are located in the overflow lot to the right
- Do not cut through the Rona parking lot. Please follow the signs
- Poirier Forum (618 Poirier St.)
- 8 a.m. to 8:30 p.m.
WHEN CAN I GET MY SECOND DOSE?
Those who've registered through the B.C.'s GetVaccinated portal for their first vaccine will receive a notification — by the method you selected during the initial registration — when they can book an appointment to receive their second jab.
Fraser Health says if you booked your first dose through the authority's website or your local pharmacy, you're asked to register with the provincial system.
