The Tri-Cities sent 85 athletes to the 2022 BC Summer Games, and more than half won some hardware from their respective sports.
Nearly 50 teens claimed 62 medals at the four-day biannual event in Prince George from July 21 to 24 — 11 gold, 21 silver and 30 bronze.
And seven of them were donned more than one medal around their neck in proving the region's competitiveness on the provincial stage.
Track-and-field athlete Makenna Self accumulated four golds, the most medals of any youth representing the Tri-Cities, while seven others earned two colours or more.
The majority of athletes donned the orange uniform for the Fraser River region (Zone 4), which includes Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam, Port Moody, Anmore and Belcarra.
In total, Zone 4 finished with the fifth-most medals (79); Vancouver Island-Central Coast was the dominant force of the games with 133 medals, including a weekend-high 53 gold.
This marked the first BC Summer Games in four years as the COVID-19 pandemic forced the cancellation of the 2020 edition, which would've been held in Maple Ridge.
