"Devoted, gregarious, kind, respectful, quick-witted."
Those were the traits of the late Trevor Wingrove, who this week was honoured with his name on a Coquitlam street sign.
On Monday, Wingrove's widow Libby and daughter Meghan (a Grade 11 student at Dr. Charles Best secondary) as well as his parents, Les and JoAnne, were in council chambers where the recognition was announced.
Wingrove was the city's general manager of corporate planning when he died three years ago, at the age of 42, of cancer. Locally, the Centennial secondary grad is best known for his prowess playing with the Coquitlam junior and senior Adanacs lacrosse teams.
Last Friday, city crews replaced Park Entry Way, leading from Pinetree Way into Coquitlam Town Centre Park, with the Trevor Wingrove Way street sign.
Under city policy, a person cannot have their name on a sign or facility until at least two years have passed from their retirement or death.
