A large police investigation resulted last month in two Coquitlam residents being charged in connection with more than 30 tire and wheel thefts.

Coquitlam Mounties said the number of thefts that happened between October and January had prompted them to issue a public advisory warning.

The detachment's Profile Target Team focused its efforts on two suspects who had recently moved into the area, Cpl. Scott Grimmer said.

No tires or wheels were recovered when they were nabbed but "several pieces of evidence related to the thefts" were found, Grimmer said. A search of the pair's home also revealed other stolen property.

Charged with break and enter, possession of stolen property and failure to comply with condition of recognizance is Tomasz Stawarski, 28. Lindsey Gilmore, 25, is charged with possession of stolen property under $5,000.

They are scheduled to appear in Port Coquitlam provincial court on Wednesday.
