A federal government employee, a scientist and a business developer are on next year’s economic development committee to guide Coquitlam's growth.
Haley Hodgson, Deryck Persaud and Yasmin Jalali are among the 11 people who city council appointed on Dec. 9 to the city advisory committee for 2025–26.
This fall, following a recruitment campaign, the municipality took in 112 applications from residents and organizations wanting to fill the 65 volunteer positions on advisory committees and the Coquitlam Public Library board.
Coun. Teri Towner thanked those who put their name forward to have a say in civic business and acknowledged the people who were at the table in 2024.
Having the local input “is a real value to the city,” Coun. Robert Mazzarolo added. “I think the feedback is important. It lets us know where the public is at.”
