A Port Coquitlam group that marks 35 years in 2025 is celebrating the holidays again by giving to a seniors facility.
For the fourth year, the PoCo Garden Club donated four wreaths and swag to the Hawthorne Seniors Care Centre using greenery from club members’ gardens.
Spokesperson Dale Wilkie told the Tri-City News the club has partnered with Hawthorne for more than 25 years to plant and maintain its courtyard beds.
Its other outreach this year has included fundraisers for an endowment fund with the University of the Fraser Valley’s horticulture department, as well as for SHARE Family and Community Services.
Next year, for its milestone anniversary, the PoCo Garden Club will host its mega plant, garage and bake sales on Saturday, April 26.
The club’s mandate is to promote Port Coquitlam as “a city of gardens.”
