Book lovers will soon be able to spend every Sunday at the Terry Fox Library in Port Coquitlam.

On Tuesday, the city's finance and intergovernmental committee OK'd a 2018 budget request from the Fraser Valley Regional Library (FVRL) to keep its PoCo branch open on Sundays throughout the year.

Currently, the Terry Fox Library is only open on Sundays from 1 to 5 from Thanksgiving to Easter but, come next spring, it will also stay open through the summer as well.

The additional hours will cost PoCo taxpayers $19,400 more next year in staffing and cleaning, according to a report from Lori Bowie, PoCo's recreation director.

Scott Hargrove, FVRL's chief executive officer, wrote in a letter to city council that Sundays are popular with library customers.
