An ancient Persian tradition will be revived in Port Moody thanks to revisions to the city's smoking bylaw adopted Tuesday.

Council approved changes to permit smoking clubs as long as there is sufficient ventilation and second-hand smoke doesn't enter other portions of the building.

As a result of the unanimous vote, Ali Roshanravan's "multi-cultural social club," where people can listen to music, enjoy tea and smoke a tobacco-free blend of aromatic herbs and dried fruit in a traditional Persian hookah, or water pipe, will now be allowed to go ahead.
