The long-awaited middle school for Anmore and Port Moody's north shore is targeted to open next September and officials are already figuring out which students will be the first to enrol.
The boundaries for Moody middle school - Port Moody's only middle school - will be separated into two catchments, with students whose home addresses fall with in the Anmore, Aspenwood, Pleasantside and Heritage Mountain elementary school catchments assigned to the new Eagle Mountain middle school.
A small number of students whose addresses fall within the Pleasantside elementary catchment will be within a dual catchment between Eagle Mountain and Moody middle schools, and will be asked in January to verify which middle school they plan to attend.
Students wishing to attend a school outside of their identified catchment will have to apply for the cross-catchment process, which starts in February. Parents will be able to get more information about this process at their child's school.
The $33-million Eagle Mountain middle school, just inside the Anmore border, next to Heritage Woods secondary, is under construction and will house up to 500 students next fall when it opens.
