School District 43 will be holding open houses and a Twitter chat to distribute information and get feedback on its 2013/'14 operating budget.

School District 43 will be holding open houses and a Twitter chat to distribute information and get feedback on its 2013/'14 operating budget.

And the entire process will be put off until April to give the district more time to get its financial information ready. The new timeline for 2014/15 approved Tuesday, includes a town hall meeting on April 1, similar to one held lin early March last year, where projected revenues and expenses, and details on any surplus or deficit, will be laid out and the public will be asked to comment.

The town hall will be followed up a week later, with an open house on April 8, where people can ask questions or share comments at stations devoted to particular topics, or they can hear the budget presentation again in another room.

Delegations will be allowed to present their views on the budget on April 10 and then on April 15 board chair Melissa Hyndes, Superintendent Tom Grant and SecretaryTreasurer Mark Ferrari will take part in a Twitter chat on budget questions.

The preliminary budget will be presented April 22, with the final budget to be adopted April 29.

According to SD43 officials, the new budget process is starting later in the year but will include multiple opportunities for input and include more concrete information.
