The volunteer fire department that serves Anmore and Belcarra issued a warning this week after an unattended camp fire was doused.
Yesterday (Wednesday), Sasamat crews put out the small camp fire located on Crystal Creek Drive in Anmore, believed to have been lit by a group of young people.
“Not a good start to spring,” the department wrote on its social media channels, reminding residents that camp fire permits are required in the village while, in Belcarra, camp fires are banned.
Fire Chief Jay Sharpe said the call came in from a resident who could see the smoke in her neighbourhood. “Nobody was around when we got there but the fire was still burning,” he told The Tri-City News.
