Rewind Beer is known for its retro vibe, award-winning beers and Detroit-style pizza.

A retro brewery and Port Moody’s ice cream power couple are among the recipient’s of the city’s latest Spike business awards.

The awards, that celebrate the contributions of Port Moody’s business community, were presented at Inlet Theatre Thursday, Nov. 28.

Mayor Meghan Lahti said the winners in six categories “represent a vibrant business community that creates jobs, fosters creativity and innovation, and is constantly finding new ways to make Port Moody an even better place.”

Rewind Beer Co., a division of nearby Parkside Brewery, was recognized for putting the city on the map.

Renowned for its 1980s and 90s vibe, Rewind has the most Instagram followers of any craft brewery in Canada and its videos on the social media platform have attracted more than 80 million views.

But Rewind’s online popularity is well-earned as its beers have won several awards, including two recent BC Craft Beer awards and a sliver medal at the Canada Beer Cup.

“Parkside has become a trusted brand, earning many accolades,” said a news release.

Jamie and Yvette Cuthbert, founders and proprietors of Rocky Point Ice Cream, are winners of the community builder award.

Since starting their ice cream concession at Port Moody’s waterfront park 28 years ago, the Cuthbert’s have supported community initiatives and events as well as organizations like Eagle Ridge Hospital, SHARE Community and Family Services, KidSport with financial and in-kind donations. They’ve also created more than 1,000 seasonal jobs for young people to get valuable work experience.

“The Cuthberts’ dedication to improving Port Moody is reflected in their sustained investment in their business as well as the broader community,” said the release.
