Principals, VPs on the move in SD43 in the new year

Students, staff and teachers will see some principal and vice principal changes at Tri-City schools next semester — mostly in Port Coquitlam.

Students, staff and teachers will see some principal and vice principal changes at Tri-City schools next semester — mostly in Port Coquitlam.

School District 43 (SD43) recently announced the administrative appointments and retirements, effective Feb. 1, 2025:

Elementary principals

  • Iram Kham
    • principal in the Surrey School District moves to principal at Blakeburn Elementary
  • Ian Robertson
    • vice principal at Maple Creek Middle moves to principal at Castle Park Elementary
  • Tamara Sengotta
    • acting principal at Birchland Elementary moves to principal

Middle vice principals

  • Jesseca Eng
    • vice principal in the Vancouver School District moves to vice principal at Maple Creek Middle
  • Jennifer Morgan
    • teacher at Learning Services moves to vice principal at Pitt River Middle

Secondary vice principals

  • Jeremy Baerg
    • teacher at Apex moves to vice principal at Riverside Secondary
  • Gregory Schellenberg

Meanwhile, SD43 named Andrea Hunter as its new assistant superintendent to replace Robert Zambrano, who this month is taking over the role of district superintendent from Patricia Gartland; she is retiring.

Hunter, who starts on Feb. 1, 2025, has been with SD43 for 26 years, starting in 1998 at Riverside Secondary. Currently, she is the principal of Learning Services.

“I am excited and honoured to join the District Leadership Team and looking forward to working collaboratively with colleagues to support the development of all learners,” Hunter said in news release.

SD43 is the third largest school district in the province.
