Prep work for Coquitlam Central Station begins

Work to prepare for the construction of the Evergreen Line's Coquitlam Central Station is underway.

Work to prepare for the construction of the Evergreen Line's Coquitlam Central Station is underway.

The details of the work are as follows:

a new section of parking, located in the northwest corner of the park-and-ride lot (near the Evergreen Line Project Office), will open in mid-October;

installation of temporary fencing around work zones, plus the set-up of site offices and a parking for construction crews;

closure of a portion of the existing parking lot located in the southwest corner of the park-and-ride facility after construction fencing is installed;

construction crews will be working Monday to Saturday, between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m.;

Once the site has been set-up, crews will build a temporary right-in from Barnet Highway eastbound just east of the Mariner Way overpass, opening for drivers later this year. Once complete, crews will prepare for and construct the columns for the elevated guideway within the Coquitlam Central Station area.

As part of this work, there will be some changes to access to and from the park-and-ride and transit exchange in early 2014. More detailed information will be available closer to the start date.
