Port Moody releases council, staff salaries

Port Moody council members earned slightly more in 2012 than they did the previous year. The 2012 statement of financial information shows Mayor Mike Clay earned $72,471, of which nearly $24,000 is a tax-free allowance.

The 2012 statement of financial information shows Mayor Mike Clay earned $72,471, of which nearly $24,000 is a tax-free allowance. Former mayor Joe Trasolini, who served until November 2011, earned just over $67,000 the previous year.

Council members took home just under $26,000 in 2012 (almost $8,400 tax free), a slight bump from the 2011 rate of about $24,500.

Council expenses ranged from a low of $3,396 for Clay to just over $6,108 for Coun. Rick Glumac. Also ringing in near the top was Coun. Zoe Royer ($5,665) followed by Coun. Diana Dilworth ($5,220), Coun. Bob Elliott ($4,595), Coun. Rosemary Small ($4,574) and Coun. Gerry Nuttall ($3,573).

The 2012 council remuneration reports for Coquitlam and Port Coquitlam have not yet been released.

In 2011, Coquitlam's Mayor Richard Stewart was earning about $119,000 (plus $8,000 in transportation allowances) while councillors took in $53,800 apiece (plus a $3,500 allowance). In PoCo, Mayor Greg Moore received about $85,400 and councillors received about $31,600 each.

Staff salaries in Port Moody for 2012 - at close to $17.3 million - went up slightly from 2011, about $17,400.

However the number of staff earning more than $75,000 went up, from 75 in 2011 to 79 last year, costing taxpayers an additional $420,575.

Of those, 23 staff members are making more than $100,000 (up from 21 in 2011).

Top earners include Paul Rockwood, general manager of financial services ($147,356); Tim Savoie, GM of development services ($146,682); Ron Higo, GM of community services ($140,715); city clerk Colleen Rohde ($137,168); and Fire Chief Remo Faedo ($134,961).
