Port Moody's Parker Doyle (second from left) towers over teammates and opponents at last summer's national lacrosse championship where he captained Team BC in both the field and box tournaments.

Port Moody’s Parker Doyle has been selected first overall in the BC Junior A Lacrosse League entry draft that was held Saturday, Jan. 18.

Doyle, who’s a graduate of the Port Moody Minor Lacrosse Association and is currently attending the Lawrenceville School in New Jersey, was selected by the Langley Thunder.

In fact, he’s one of two players from Port Moody picked in the first round by Langley, which also selected Cole O’Callaghan eighth overall.

Port Coquitlam’s Levi Crooks went fourth overall to the Delta Islanders.

Doyle is listed as 6’5” and 195 pounds on Lawrenceville’s recruiting page, where he plays midfield for the school’s field lacrosse team that begins its season in March.

He joins the Thunder with one game of junior lacrosse experience already in his legs. He was a U17 call-up for the Burnaby Jr. Lakers at the end of the 2024 regular season where he had an assist against the Nanaimo Timbermen and was named the team’s player of the game.

Doyle also captained Team BC to U17 national championships in both box and field lacrosse last summer and was named a first team all-star at both events.

The Port Coquitlam Saints selected Ryan Law from Ridge Meadows Minor Lacrosse with its first pick that didn’t come until 14th overall while the defending Minto Cup national champions, Coquitlam Jr. Adanacs, had to wait until the fourth round to get Bennet Burns from Chilliwack 31st overall.

WLA draft coming soon

The Western Lacrosse Association (WLA) will hold its junior draft of British Columbia’s top 21-year-old players on Jan. 28 at 7 p.m.

Each of the league’s seven teams will be allowed to submit players from its own protected territory for the first two rounds, followed by five draft rounds of players at large.

The Coquitlam Adanacs pick third overall.

WLA commissioner Paul Dal Monte said the draft proceedings, that will be streamed live from the Langley Events Centre on the league’s website, mark the start of the upcoming lacrosse season.

“We are very excited about this year’s crop of graduating juniors and what they will contribute to our member clubs,” said Dal Monte in a news release, adding the regular season schedule will be released in mid-February.

The WLA will be the host of this year’s Mann Cup national championship that's to be played in September.
