Luca Herring is cast as Leonard Vole in the courtroom thriller Witness for the Prosecution, a short story and play by the British author Agatha Christie that’s staged by Theatre in the County from April 2 to 19, 2025.

The show is directed by Simon Challenger.

Charged with the murder of a wealthy senior named Emily French who had named Vole as her main beneficiary, Vole is put on the stand at London’s Old Bailey to defend his honour — or hide a deadly secret.

The story was turned into a movie in 1957, directed by Billy Wilder and starring Tyrone Power, Marline Dietrich and Charles Laughton; it received six Oscar nominations including for Best Picture and garnered five Golden Globe nominations. The American Film Institute named the movie the sixth-best courtroom drama ever told.

Ticket holders to the Theatre in the Country production can see the two-hour show, or have a dinner prior to the performance at 5708 Glover Rd. in Langley.

To book seats, visit the company’s website or call the box office at 604-259-9737.
