The Arms Pub raised $5,500 for the Port Coquitlam Community Foundation through the restaurant's annual Monday Night Football pool.

A Port Coquitlam watering hole has given an organization more room to distribute its endowments to non-profits in need of some relief.

The Arms Pub donated $5,500 to the PoCo Community Foundation (PCCF) thanks to participants in the business' annual Monday Night Football pool, which is set to ultimately be passed down to local charities.

In a statement to the Tri-City News, PCCF executive director Anna Wilczewski said The Arms Pub is a prime example of a business that understands why money should be invested in the community's "greatest needs."

"Community foundations allow citizens to give back to their local communities in a way that builds a sustainable source of funding," she explained, noting the recent donation will help bridge gaps in funding.

"Let us help you, help those charities that do amazing work in our community of Port Coquitlam."

The PCCF is in its 10th year of distributing charitable endowments, grants and bursaries to Port Coquitlam non-profits and individuals, totalling more than $1 million since 2012.
