Christmas has come and gone.
Now, Tri-Cities residents who found a live tree for their home may be looking for a safe way of dispose of them.
Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody are hosting a series of tree-chipping stations in the new year.
And not only will the sights and sounds offer some weekend entertainment, but it will also benefit local organizations and reduce waste that normally accumulates over the holidays.
In each case, residents are asked to remove all decorations, including tinsel and metal hooks.

Port Coquitlam
PoCo residents will also have the chance to watch their natural tree get tossed into the chipper and turned into usable mulch for city parks and trails.
The machine will be set up the weekend of Jan. 7 and 8 at Fire Hall #1 (1725 Broadway St.) from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day, and donations are going to the Port Coquitlam Fire Fighters Charitable Society.
The organization is asking for a minimum $10 donation for those willing to bring their tree to the station, and $20 for residents wishing to arrange a pick up.
For more information and to fill out a pick-up request form, you can visit the City of Port Coquitlam's website.
Port Moody
Meanwhile, Port Moody residents with natural Christmas trees can bring them to the Inlet Centre Fire Hall (150 Newport Dr.) on Jan. 8.
Local 2399 firefighters are scheduled to operate the wood chipper from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the drive-thru event.
The minimum donation is $5 per tree and all proceeds are earmarked for the BC Professionals Fire Fighters' Burn Fund.
Residents who can't make it in person are encouraged to email [email protected] to arrange a pick up.
