Port Coquitlam's Curtis Taylor made his pitching debut for Union Laguna in the Mexican League on June 26, 2024.

Port Coquitlam pitcher Curtis Taylor hopes his seventh Major League Baseball organization will be a charm.

The 29-year-old right-hander has been signed to a minor league contract by the St. Louis Cardinals.

Taylor spent the 2024 season with Algondoneros de Union Laguna in the Mexican League, where he appeared in 14 games in relief, had one loss and an earned run average (ERA) of 7.53.

He also played the past two winter seasons with Hermosillo Naranjeros where he helped the team win a championship in 2023.

Taylor attended the University of British Columbia and he was selected in the fourth round of the 2016 Major League Baseball draft by the Arizona Diamondbacks.

Since then he’s toiled in the minor league systems of five other MLB teams, including the Tampa Bay Rays, Toronto Blue Jays, Washington Nationals, Chicago Cubs and Minnesota Twins. But he’s yet to play in a game in the big leagues.

In 182 minor league games, Taylor has a career ERA of 3.60.

An alumnus with the Coquitlam Little League and Coquitlam Reds in the Premier Baseball League (PBL), Taylor also pitched for Canada at the 2023 World Baseball Classic.
