Port Coquitlam residents can win one of 12 hanging baskets in the 2024 PoCo in Bloom garden photo contest. The deadline to post an image is June 30, 2024.

A dozen Port Coquitlam residents will be rewarded by the city with a hanging basket for showcasing their lush gardens.

Until Sunday, June 30, homeowners and renters can share an image of their bountiful displays as part of the municipality’s PoCo in Bloom program.

To qualify, garden pictures must be posted on PoCo’s website or social media channels:

  • Website
  • Facebook
    • via Comments section on any post related to #pocoinbloom
  • Instagram or X (formerly known as Twitter)
    • hashtag #pocoinbloom tag @cityofpoco

Winners will receive the same hanging baskets that the city uses to decorate the community.

The photo contest comes after civic workers this spring planted nearly 80,000 tulip bulbs around Port Coquitlam, of which 24,425 bulbs were dedicated to celebrate the centennial anniversary of the Royal Canadian Air Force.

The four varieties that went into the grounds around city hall, the Hyde Creek Recreation Centre, the cemetery and along McAllister are:

  • “Ad Astra” (Tulip White Triumphator)
  • “Flyers” (Tulip Versace)
  • “Wings” (Tulip Yellow Fabio)
  • “Rescue” (Tulip Flaming Parrot)
