A Port Coquitlam woman is dead after a crash near Joe Sakic Way in Burnaby last night (Sunday).
The incident happened around 6 p.m. when a single vehicle collided with a tree on the median dividing north and south traffic on Kensington Avenue, according to a witness at the scene.
It’s believed the car hit a number of vehicles before striking the tree; however, Burnaby RCMP have yet to confirm the details.
The deceased victim is a 47-year-old woman from PoCo while the driver — a 28-year-old man, also from Port Coquitlam — suffered serious injuries and is in hospital at this time, Mounties say.
The cause of the crash remains under investigation.
