Staff at Port Coquitlam's Hyde Creek rec centre are organizing a family walk along the Traboulay PoCo Trail next weekend in memory of Charlene Reaveley, who was killed in a hit-and-run accident last month.
A Walk to Remember will be held Saturday, March 12 starting at the rec centre (1379 Laurier Ave.) to honour Reaveley, a mother of four young children who taught fitness classes at rec centres around the Tri-Cities, and raise money for her family.
The event will begin at 1 p.m. with opening words from Mayor Greg Moore, followed by a warm-up led by Hyde Creek's fitness team. The walk will be followed with some yoga stretching and reflection at 2 p.m.
Those who participate in the walk are encouraged to make a donation to the Reaveley family.
Reaveley, a mother of four, and Lorraine Cruz were killed in a hit-and-run Feb. 19 on Lougheed Highway near Pitt River Road in Coquitlam. Reaveley had been assisting Cruz, who had been in a minor accident, when a vehicle struck both victims on the side of the road.
