Planned power outages to temporarily impact hundreds of Tri-City residents

BC Hydro set to update a number of systems, poles or transformers across Coquitlam, Port Coquitlam and Port Moody starting this week.

A series of temporary power outages have been planned for several neighbourhoods in the Tri-Cities.

Of note, there are 12 outages on the schedule for BC Hydro customers in communities like Coquitlam (7), Port Coquitlam (2), Port Moody (2) and Belcarra (1).

Most of which appear to be routine equipment work or updates by the provincial power service company.

The upcoming planned power outages as of this publication (Oct. 19), along with how many customers set to be temporarily without power, are as follows:

COQUITLAM

Oct. 20 (Nearly 600 combined customers impacted)

  • 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.
    • Equipment update
    • Donald Street at Welcher Avenue; 2200-block Mary Hill Road; 2200-block Welcher Avenue
  • 9:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.
    • Pole replacement
    • 1900- and 2000-blocks Arbury Avenue; 2000-block Crane Avenue; 700-block Duval Court; 600- and 700-blocks Firdale Street; 732 Mars St.; 700-block Poplar Street; 1900- and 2000-blocks Quinton Avenue

Oct. 21 (More than 60 customers impacted)

  • 11 p.m. to 6:30 a.m (Oct. 22)
    • Equipment update
    • 300-block Blue Mountain Street; 1000- and 1100-blocks Charland Avenue; 1100-block Madore Avenue; 400-block Marmont Street

Oct. 22 (More than 40 customers impacted)

  • 2 to 6 a.m.

  • 9:30 a.m. to 12 p.m.
