Thursday at 9 p.m.:

Police are attending to a "serious" motor vehicle incident in Coquitlam this evening, June 6, that struck a pedestrian.

The accident took place at the intersection of Mariner Way and Dolphin Street, according to Cpl. Dave Noon, a forensic collision reconstructionist with the Lower Mainland Integrated Collision Analysis and Reconstruction Service (LMD-ICARS).

As a result, Mariner Way, a major thoroughfare for Coquitlam commuters, is closed in both directions between Hawser Avenue and Dewdney Trunk Road.

The condition of the pedestrian is not known, as of this publication, nor how long the 900 m stretch of Mariner Way will stay closed.

Noon said in a post on X (formerly known as Twitter) before 7:30 p.m. for motorists to "plan accordingly" until officers are finished.
