No one was hurt from a drive-by shooting in Coquitlam on Tuesday, Sept. 3, according to Mounties, who are now appealing for the public to help with the investigation.

RCMP are asking for witnesses to come forward with video and statements of the "isolated" incident — the fourth known shooting in Coquitlam for 2024 and the first reported by local authorities in seven months.

In a news release on Wednesday, Sept. 4, officers explained multiple shots were fired around 10 p.m. on Tuesday in the Burke Mountain neighbourhood 800-metre stretch of Coast Meridian Road.

It's believed an individual in a vehicle shot at another vehicle between Highland Drive and David Avenue.

RCMP also believe the suspects involved are known to the detachment.

Thankfully no one was injured during this act of violence, said spokesperson S/Sgt. Ed Yoshiyama with the Coquitlam RCMP's Investigative Services Section.

General Investigative Services has since taken lead on the case.

Mounties are encouraging local residents that ventured along Coast Meridian Road between 9 and 11 p.m. on Tuesday to submit dash-cam, CCTV, surveillance or cell-phone footage.

Anyone with more information or video footage of the shooting is encouraged to call Coquitlam RCMP at 604-945-1550 and quote file number 2024-23385.
