A storm sewer installation underneath the westbound HOV lane on Clarke Street for the Evergreen Line project will see temporary night construction between Elgin and Grant streets this week.

Night-time road closures and temporary parking restrictions on Clarke Street will take place from 9 p.m. to 6 a.m. Monday to Friday, for four to six weeks. Poor weather will alter the schedule and activities will also be coordinated with the city of Port Moody's work on the Moody Street overpass.

Local residents can expect noise, including saw cutting and the use of heavy machinery. Every effort will be made to minimize noise and disruptions when possible, said EGRT Construction, the company working on the project.

This three-phase project will move into the second part starting Oct. 21, where Clarke between Kyle and Grant streets will be closed nightly and motorists will be detoured to St. Johns Street. There will be temporary no parking restrictions on both the north and south sides of Clarke Street between Kyle and Grant.

In the third phase, which is expected to begin Oct. 28 if the weather cooperates, Clarke Street between Kyle and Moody will be closed nightly and motorists shunted to St. Johns Street. There will be no parking permitted on the north side of Clarke Street between Mary and Grant. On the south side of Clarke Street, no parking will be permitted between Mary and Moody streets.
