New traffic pattern for Coquitlam-bound cars crossing Port Mann

Starting this Saturday, drivers heading into Coquitlam from Surrey along Highway 1 will have change into dedicated lanes before they get on to the Port Mann Bridge.

The westbound exit point for Exit 44 to Coquitlam (to Highway 7 or 7B) will be moved to before the Port Mann Bridge, at Surrey's152 Street interchange.

Drivers should watch for signage and make sure they use the correct lane - Vancouver traffic should stay left and Coquitlam traffic should stay right. Once drivers choose to exit at the new Exit 44, they will be separated from highway traffic and unable to rejoin Highway 1.

However, for two weeks depending on the weather, one of the new Coquitlam lanes across the Port Mann Bridge will be temporarily closed and other bridge traffic shifted to create a safe work zone to complete final drainage, top-lift paving, pavement markings and shift barriers in the median.
