Coquitlam residents can now enjoy a buttery croissant in a rainforest.
The city’s newest café, La Foret Austin, officially opened its doors at 1135 Austin Ave. on Saturday, May 18.
It’s the first location outside of Burnaby for the business that envelopes visitors enjoying a sweet treat or lunch in a lush, open space surrounded by hanging vines, towering trees and wood details.
So far, according to social media, the reception has been enthusiastic.
“It looks stunning,” said one commenter on Instagram.
“My kids loved it,” added another. “I did too.”
The Coquitlam café is 4,500 sq. ft. with seating for more than 120 customers. Its menu features La Foret favourites already established at its two Burnaby locations near the Royal Oak SkyTrain station like squid ink waffles as well as some offerings exclusive to the new venue.
La Foret opened its flagship café in a refurbished industrial garage on Jubilee Avenue in Burnaby in 2017. It then added a second location just an 11-minute walk away.
The Coquitlam venture follows the original’s aesthetic by transforming the old Paul’s Auto Body Shop while retaining its expansive roll-up garage doors that flood the interior with natural light.
A website for the new location isn’t yet live, but you can get an idea of its menu here.
