Who are the people that provide the backbone of the community?
These unsung heroes often go unrecognized. But now a relatively new award program wants to honour them.
Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam MP Ron McKinnon is seeking nominations for his annual award program, Community Champions, which recognizes the dedicated leaders and community volunteers in Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam.
"The past two years have been very challenging, and we each know so many people who stepped up to support their neighbours and make our community stronger," McKinnon said in a statement. "From the person delivering meals to those less fortunate, to the person who goes above and beyond to help others every single day, these Community Champions deserve to be recognized and now you can nominate them for an award.".
