Two motorcyclists were injured after a lane change gone wrong on the Mary Hill Bypass Friday afternoon.
Shortly before 5 p.m. a grey Toyota Sienna was heading eastbound on the bypass near Shaughnessy Street. When the driver allegedly tried to change lanes a nearby Ford Taurus swerved to avoid a collision.
"In doing so the Taurus bumped into a blue Kawasaki that was near it, causing the [rider] to lose control," said Coquitlam RCMP Cpl. Jamie Chung.
The Kawasaki's rear tire clipped the front tire of a green Suzuki motorcycle behind it, with that rider also losing control and crashing into a light pole.
"Not surprisingly, both drivers of the vehicles are alright but unfortunately not the motorcycle riders," Chung said.
The female rider of the Kawaski was treated at Eagle Ridge Hospital in Port Moody for non-life threatening injuries while the male rider of the Suzuki was taken to Royal Columbian Hospital in New Westminster for more serious, but non-life threatening injuries.
Police issued the driver of the Sienna a ticket under the Motor Vehicle Act.
