Evergreen Line construction along Clarke Street next to the railway tracks between Moody and Queens Street is expected to ramp-up in the coming days.
Crews will be using a large drill to auger into soft soils and break up the ground before mixing in cement. According to a construction bulletin from contractor EGRT Construction, this method means that noisy pile driving will not be used in the immediate vicinity of Clarke Street.
Work will take place Monday to Saturday between 7 a.m. and 8 p.m. for the next three months, however some nigttime work may be required. Noise related to excavation, material hauling, drilling and the use of heavy machinery should be expected, the press release said.
There also may be intermittent temporary stoppages of traffic on Clarke Street to allow construction vehicles to enter and exit the work area. Motorists are advised to use caution and pay attention to traffic control personnel.
