No one was injured from a five-vehicle collision that caused major traffic delays on the Port Mann Bridge this morning (Feb. 14).
BC Highway Patrol confirmed to the Tri-City News the collision resulted from several start-stops by vehicles that ended up crashing into each other.
Two of them had to be towed, the policing division added.
However, the contributing factors are still not known as witnesses have come forward.
The incident took place around 7 a.m. on the Coquitlam side of the Highway 1 bridge mid-span in the left lane.
Traffic, as a result, was backed up to as far as 176 Street/Highway 15 exit in Surrey and heavily congested for several hours.
DriveBC is asking commuters to use caution when travelling on highways, while also reminding that posted speed limit are for ideal conditions.
8:15 a.m.
Crews have cleared a multi-vehicle collision on the Port Mann Bridge, according to DriveBC.
However, the provincial agency warns drivers that major delays should still be expected as traffic is significantly congested.
An apparent five-vehicle crash took place around 7 a.m. this morning (Feb. 14) westbound and mid-span on the Coquitlam side of the Highway 1 bridge.
It's still not known, as of this update, if anyone was injured in the crash.
Vehicles appear to still be backed up as far as the 176 Street/Highway 15 exit in Surrey.

A multi-vehicle collision on the Port Mann Bridge is causing major delays for Metro Vancouver commuters this morning.
DriveBC says the pile up has blocked off traffic mid-span westbound on the Coquitlam side of the bridge in the left lane.
The incident took place around 7 a.m. and it appears at least five vehicles are involved.
Police are on scene tending to the situation.
The cause of the crash, and if anyone was injured, is still unknown.
Westbound traffic, as of this publication, is backed up to the 176 Street/Highway 15 exit in Surrey.
Drivers are being asked to consider alternate routes, including the Pattullo and Golden Ears Bridges.
Good news: a vehicle incident westbound in the HOV lane of Highway 1 at Kensington Avenue in Burnaby has been cleared.
However, commuters should continue to expect delays as the incident pushed traffic as far back as the west end through lanes of the Port Mann Bridge.
