Long-time Coquitlam principal retains post at helm of BCPVPA

School District 43 (SD43) will be without a tenured principal for another year, but will be well-represented at the provincial level.

Brian Leonard is entering the second of his two-year term as president of the BC Principals’ and Vice-Principals’ Association (BCPVPA), an organization that supports 2,700 administrators from schools across the province.

Leonard has been an educator for more than 25 years, served as a director on the BCPVPA board for 10 years, and was most recently an elementary school principal in Coquitlam.

Dr. Shannon Behan (SD47, Powell River) takes on the role of president-elect.

For the past 27 years, Behan has served as a teacher, counsellor, and vice-principal, and as a principal at a school, district, and at the international level.

The BC PVPA is a voluntary professional association representing school leaders in BC’s 60 public school districts.

It provides its members with the professional services and support they need to provide outstanding leadership in public education.
