Letter: Lack of new access roads in Anmore proposal is a worry

The safety of the citizens of Anmore, Belcarra and Port Moody should come first, writes Linda Weinberg in response to the Icona development application.

Dear Editor,

Re: "Anmore to consider next step in consultation plan for massive development" (tricitynews.com, Feb. 4, 2025)

The proposed Icona development of the Ioco lands does not include any new access roads.

This could add several thousand cars to Ioco, East and Sunnyside roads each day.

Any emergency like a fire or earthquake — particularly in the summertime, with full parking lots at Buntzen, Belcarra and White Pine — could mean disaster for many.

There are other valid reasons for this proposal to be turned back, but the safety of the citizens of Anmore, Belcarra and Port Moody should come first.
