Dozens of kids from across Metro Vancouver will be in Burnaby on July 20, 2024, showcasing their business ideas and products, thanks to a Port Moody-based non-profit's entrepreneurship programs.

Kids are our future.

This statement will be put on display at Lougheed Mall on Saturday, July 20, as dozens of young minds from across Metro Vancouver are set to showcase the skills and knowledge they've learned about entrepreneurship.

Build a Biz Kids, a non-profit organization based in Port Moody, will be hosting a BizKids Market at the Burnaby-Coquitlam border shopping centre — located at 9855 Austin Rd.

Students of all ages will showcase the "future-ready education" and hands-on skills they've learned to present business ideas and pitch products to the general public.

Spokesperson Kelly Kieu said the six-hour event will be a culmination of creativity from its "KidPreneur" programs.

"We believe this event presents a fantastic opportunity to highlight the importance of entrepreneurial education and the positive impact it can have on young people and the community."

Examples of past products have included household items, bath supplies, jewelry and toys.

According to Build a Biz Kids' website, the charity's goal is to provide one million students with future-ready educational experiences by 2030.

It adds its programs' five key topics include entrepreneurship, public speaking, digital literacy, financial literacy and course creation, as well as strong focus on mental health.

"Imagine a world where children get to wake up each day feeling good about themselves, look in the mirror and say 'I rock!," Build a Biz Kids' website reads.

"Where their incredible self confidence has been built by proving to themselves through real-world, hands on experiences, the incredible impact they are truly capable of.

"When a child is able to validate themselves internally, and measure their self worth based on their own goals, aspirations, and actions, then they are free. Free from the opinions of social media, their peers, their teachers, coaches, parents and the media in general."

The BizKids Market is scheduled for Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m at The City of Lougheed mall as is free to attend.
