The former MP for Coquitlam-Port Coquitlam is now the chancellor of his university alma mater.
This week, James Moore was named the chancellor of the University of Northern B.C., where he earned his bachelor's degree in political science in 2001.
He will be sworn in at a convocation ceremony in Prince George on May 27.
Moore, who is now a senior business advisory at the the law firm Dentons, will be the institution's sixth chancellor, following in the steps of Iona Campagnolo, George Pedersen, Peter Bentley, Alex Michalos and John MacDonald.
"With the recent number-one ranking in Maclean’s magazine and a bright future on the horizon, I am looking forward to playing my part in the future successes to this fine institution," Moore said in a news release.
The role of chancellor is largely ceremonial; however, Moore will be on the board of governors and take part in retreats and workshops. It is a volunteer position but his travel and expenses will be compensated, a UNBC spokesperson said.
The country's former industry minister, Moore resigned his federal post this spring to spend more time at home with his family in Port Moody.
