It’s Election Day in British Columbia and thousands of voters are heading to the polls, including in the Tri-Cities.

Here’s what you need to know:

Who can vote?

To make your mark on a ballot, you must be:

  • a Canadian citizen
  • 18 or older on Oct. 19, 2024
  • a B.C. resident since April 18, 2024
  • not disqualified from voting

When can I vote?

Polling stations are open from 8 a.m. to 8 p.m., Pacific time. By law, you are allowed time off work to cast your ballot.

Where can I vote?

You have an assigned voting place on Oct. 19, 2024; however, you can vote at another location, if that’s more convenient. Your assigned voting place is listed on the white card that was mailed to you.

What ID do I need?

You need to prove your identity and residential address. Typically, this is done using one of these pieces:

  • a B.C. driver’s licence
  • a B.C. Identification Card (BCID)
  • a B.C. Services Card (with photo)
  • another card issued by the Government of B.C. or Canada that shows your name, photo and address
  • a certificate of Indian Status

If you don’t have these forms, you can also show any two pieces of ID or documents that have your name (at least one piece must have a current address). Electronic documents (e.g., eBills) and electronic scans of a paper document are allowed.

What is my constituency?

If you are unsure what reorganized constituency you live in, you can type your address into the Elections BC website.
