While advance voting ends today, Oct. 16, more than 43,000 residents in the Tri-Cities and New Westminster have already cast their ballots early in the 2024 provincial election.
Yesterday, Oct. 15, voters continued to pour into advance polling stations to make their mark in the race that’s seeing sharp platform divides between the BC NDP’s David Eby, the BC Conservatives under John Rustad and the BC Greens with Sonia Furstenau.
Here was Tuesday’s voter turnout, as recorded by Elections BC:
- Coquitlam–Burke Mountain = 2,155
- Coquitlam–Maillardville = 2,124
- New Westminster–Coquitlam = 1,034
- Port Coquitlam = 2,134
- Port Moody–Burquitlam = 2,254
Here is the total advance turnout as of Oct. 15, as well as the total registered voters for each electoral district:
- Coquitlam–Burke Mountain = 9,242
- registered voter count = 39,330
- Coquitlam–Maillardville = 8,415
- registered voter count = 40,166
- New Westminster–Coquitlam = 7,711
- registered voter count = 39,650
- Port Coquitlam = 9,046

- Port Moody–Burquitlam = 8,638
- registered voter count = 43,158
Meanwhile, candidates are on the campaign trail in the final week to talk with voters.
Glacier Media reached out to the contenders in the five constituencies — most of whom said they would be sticking to door-knocking for the rest of the campaign.
As for those making public appearances, the BC Greens’ Maureen Curran (New West–Coquitlam) will be at the New Westminster Farmers Market on Thursday, Oct. 17, from 4:40 to 6:30 p.m.
Port Moody–Burquitlam NDP MLA Rick Glumac will rally at the Port Moody West Coast Express station on Thursday morning and, in the early afternoon, at the Burquitlam SkyTrain station. And on Friday, Oct. 18, he’ll join volunteers on the Moody Street overpass.
As well, the BC Conservatives’ candidate for Port Coquitlam, Keenan Adams, will be at the intersection of Lougheed Highway and Shaughnessy Street to call for support on Friday.
NDP candidate Jodie Wickens, who is running in Coquitlam–Burke Mountain, will be at the Lincoln SkyTrain station on Thursday and, on Friday, at the Coquitlam Central SkyTrain station.
And Green candidates will be sign waving from 4:30 to 6 p.m. at the Inlet SkyTrain station on Thursday, as well as the Brunette overpass on Friday afternoon.
