Coquitlam RCMP are seeking the rightful owner of a sum of money lost on Feb. 15 at a Port Coquitlam strip mall.

The money was found near Safeway in Shaughnessy Station and turned in to police.

The Mounties are now looking for the person who lost the money in the area of 2850 Shaughnessy St.

However, the exact amount has not been disclosed and the person would have to describe the funds in the proper denominations to claim it.

Call 604-945-1550 and quote file 2023-4289 to claim the cash.

In an email to the Tri-City News, a member of the RCMP media communications team confirmed the funds have not yet been claimed.

It's not rare for people to turn in money they've found; in fact, it happens a few times a year in the Tri-Cities.

The most recent occurred in September 2022 when a man lost a large sum of cash at IKEA in Coquitlam.

He called JACK 96.9 to share a "weekend regret," saying a bundle of cash fell out of his pocket while furniture shopping for his daughter.

The money was later returned to him via the Coquitilam RCMP.
