A Port Moody pizzeria has been named the best pizza restaurant in Canada by a renowned online authority on Italian food, wine and hospitality.
Pizzeria Spacca Napoli, at 2801 St. Johns St., achieved the coveted three-spicchi (slice), ranking from Gambero Rosso International, the “leading platform for content, training, promotion and consultancy in the Italian wine, travel and food sector.
It’s the only Canadian pizzeria to be recognized, placing it among the top one per cent worldwide.
“We are beyond honoured to receive this recognition,” said Vita Di Giovanni, Spacca Napoli’s general manager, in a news release.
“This award is a testament to our team’s dedication and passion for authentic Neapolitan pizza-making.”
Customers were equally ebullient in their praise.
“Zero surprise here,” said one on soc Instagram.
“Well deserved,” said another
Spacca Napoli has been baking pizzas in its custom wood-fired oven set at 900 degrees since 2016 and it’s previously been recognized with several local, regional and national awards, including top places in the Tri-City News A-List.
