Port Moody’s pizza lovers have a new destination to sate their taste for cheesy Sicilian pies.
Emilio Finatti quietly opened its take-out shop at 2818 St. Johns St. on Tuesday. It’s the popular pizzeria’s fourth location in Metro Vancouver; its first opened in White Rock in 2005, there’s another in Langley and in 2021 the Port Coquitlam flagship location in the Fremont business park became the first to offer a dine-in option.
Founder Aaron Gehrman has won several international awards for his pizza creations and earlier this year Emilio Finatti’s Langley location was ranked eighth among Yelp Canada’s top 25 pizzerias in Canada. In March, the PoCo pizzeria was named that city’s top small business of the year at its eighth annual Best Biz Awards.
Emilio Finatti’s thin crusts are baked with low-gluten organic Alberta winter wheat. Toppings range from traditional cheese featuring a blend of edam and mozzarella to its signature pie, the Montreal Special, that is slathered in marinara sauce, cheese, pepperoni, green pepper and mushroom. There’s also a range of vegetarian pizzas as well as unique combinations like the Patate Italiano with rosemary potatoes and and the Salmon Chaperone topped by wild smoked salmon. ‘Appetizers on the menu range from flatbreads and dip to four different salads.
Emilio Finatti’s arrival enriches a Port Moody pizza market already busy with top pizzerias like Spacca Napoli at the corner of St. Johns and Moody streets and the new brick-an-mortar location on Murray Street for the Mama Said Pizza Co.
