Port Moody businesses are winners with their customers and the community.
That's the conclusion drawn from the recent call for nominations for the 2012 Spike Business Awards. As many as 250 nominations were sent in to the city, according to a press release.
"We received a great mix of nominations," said Coun. Diana Dilworth, chair of the Economic Development Committee. "There are businesses that have called Port Moody home for a number of years, and still strike a chord with the community. Then we've got the newcomers, who have obviously made a strong first impression."
"The Spike Awards give us a chance to recognize those businesses that make Port Moody a complete community," said Mayor Mike Clay. "They're an important part of who we are."
While this year's batch of nominees is now set, there's still time to get involved with the 2012 Spike Awards. The 7th annual Spike Awards are presented at a gala evening at Port Moody City Hall on Oct. 18.
