Ideally, a Port Moody-based company, has created a bedtime beverage with special ingredients designed to help drinkers naturally fall asleep.

How many hours of sleep do you get in a given night?

The Public Health Agency of Canada says roughly 30 per cent of adults have difficulty staying awake during waking hours after getting little to no sleep. One in five Canadians also do not find their sleep refreshing.

A Port Moody woman is looking to mitigate the sleep crisis by creating a specialty sleep-aid drink designed for the evening hours to help wind down before bed, and is using social media as a platform to educate the public on proper shut eye.

Delany Hunt recently launched Ideally, a supplemented beverage with L-theanine and Magnesium to improve sleep quality.

As of this publication, Aug. 8, the 22-year-old has concocted one product called "Straight Zzz" with a blend of lavender chamomile citrus.

The 355 ml light purple can consists of 23 mg of L-theanine, which promotes relaxation and reduces anxiety levels, and 100 mg of magnesium that can help combat insomnia.

Hunt's passion for "sleep content" has taken Metro Vancouver by storm since launching in mid-July, reaching more than 200,000 followers on TikTok — video views ranging from the thousands to the millions.

"Good sleep shouldn't be rare," Hunt wrote on her company's profile page.

"It all started with many sleepless nights (literally). We noticed that nearly everyone we talked to was struggling with their sleep and was on a mission to find a solution so they could feel better."

Ideally formulates and manufactures its beverages in B.C. as a means to support local business, Hunt explained.

Since the launch, which took place at Bevees Booze-Free Beverage Room and Bottle Shop in Port Coquitlam on July 18, the reviews are positive on the sleep aid drink.

"These drinks taste really delicious and calm me down before bed! I’ll definitely be buying more," said one poster.

"I fall asleep so peacefully and wake up well rest," commented another.

"It gives me the body relaxation of a good edible without me having to fight the urge to demolish my pantry or stay up half the night searching for unexplored pockets of the internet," added a third.

Ideally's inaugural drink can be found on the shelves of Bevees and Pomme Natural Market in Coquitlam, as well as five other locations across Metro Vancouver.

It can be bought as a single can or in boxes of four.
