Irwin Richard Franz pleaded guilty Wednesday in B.C. Provincial Court in Port Coquitlam in the September 2013 hit-and-run death of 16-year-old Annie Leung.

The Port Coquitlam man was charged in July 2014 for failing to stop at the scene of an accident causing bodily harm or death.

A surveillance tape was used to gather tips on the man who was driving the black pick-up truck that left the scene after striking Leung, a student at Riverside secondary school. Police received more than 100 tips that lead to Franz's arrest.

Franz's next court appearance will be on April 8 to fix a date for sentencing.
